The first units from the main forces of the Russian contingent of the CSTO peacekeeping forces arrived in Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the transfer of military and equipment continues. “Subdivisions of the 45th separate special-purpose brigade of the Airborne Forces made a march from the point of permanent deployment to the Chkalovsky loading airfield, the Ivanovo Airborne Forces formation – to the Ivanovo-Severny airfield, the Ulyanovsk Airborne Forces formation – to the Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airfield, where loading is carried out for military transport aircraft, ”the Defense Ministry explained. The advanced units of the CSTO contingent have already begun to fulfill their tasks.
Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, asked for the introduction of troops from the CSTO countries, and called the riots in the country “the invasion of bandit formations trained from abroad.”
A decision was made to bring CSTO peacekeepers into the republic. In addition to the Russian military, it will include representatives of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
