Ice is expected in St. Petersburg – Rosbalt

The Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in St. Petersburg warns about the upcoming ice on the roads and sidewalks.

As noted in the North-West UGMS, after warming in the evening on January 5, frosts are expected, so from 20-23 hours there will be ice on the roads.

Citizens are advised to move carefully, without rushing, stepping on the entire sole. Elderly people are better off using a rubber-tipped cane or a pointed stick.

“If your shoes have a sliding sole, stick on them as needed pieces of ordinary adhesive plaster – it reduces slipping,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations recalled.

Also, the department urges not to cross the road so as not to fall under the wheels of cars.

Motorists are asked to strictly observe the speed limit and the required distance (it should be two to three times longer than in summer). It is better to start braking in advance, but not abruptly. Use studded tires on all four wheels of the vehicle.
