One dead and two injured in violent events recorded between Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 in Esmeraldas

Among the victims is a woman who was wounded by two gunshot wounds.

With four bullet wounds, Darío Zambrano Rodríguez, 34, died next to a black truck in the Villanueva neighborhood of La Unión de Quinindé rural parish, central Esmeraldas province.

The crime occurred after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday 4, after the victim got out of the vehicle reported as stolen, a few meters from a store in the sector.

Villagers told police investigators that Zambrano had been waiting for a person before several gunshot detonations were heard.

The body of the victim had four entry and exit holes through the passage of the firearm projectiles.

Douglas Palacios, a member of the La Unión fire rescue unit, commented that Zambrano Rodríguez was not registering vital signs when paramedics arrived.

The National Police presumed that the victim had been threatened by the dispute over territory for drug micro-trafficking.

He had a valid arrest ticket for breach of trust and a robbery arrest in 2017.

Luis Reyes, district commander of the Quinindé Police, said that agents of the Directorate of Violent Deaths (Dinased) verify the identification and location of the suspect.

On Monday of this week another hitman-style violence was recorded. In that case, 28-year-old Kevin Rivas Garcés died and three other people were injured after the attack perpetrated by individuals who attacked the vehicle in which they were mobilizing in the Plaza Cívica sector.

With this new case, there are already two violent deaths in less than 48 hours in the green province.
