Quito remains on an epidemiological orange alert; the capital registers an increase in infections by COVID-19

According to the MSP, Quito registered 4,169 new confirmed cases in the last two weeks.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 4, 2022, the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) Metropolitan of Quito decided to keep the epidemiological alert level in orange. This, according to the authorities, will allow taking restraining measures to avoid an increase in COVID-19 infections.

According to information from the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), in the In the last two weeks, 4,169 new coronavirus infections were reported. Until January 4, the capital registered 188,833 confirmed cases.

The authorities made some requests to the national COE such as the Authorization of the third dose for adults over 50 years of age who have reached three months after the second inoculation.

They also requested that evaluate whether or not the return to classes is appropriate, according to the epidemiological indicators of the capital.

They exhorted the issuance of a rapid control document or circulation passport containing the information on the vaccination schedule to facilitate its review in the places that require it, it could be in digital format, with a QR code.
