Ministry of Internal Affairs: More than 200 people were detained during the “gas” protests in Kazakhstan

More than 200 people were detained in Kazakhstan for violations of public order. This is reported by “Kommersant” with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic.

“Despite warnings from local authorities and the prosecutor’s office, citizens followed provocative calls to commit illegal actions that threaten the stability and security of the population. In addition, certain groups of citizens blocked roads, violated public order, and created obstacles for traffic, ”the message says.

At the protests, 95 employees of the internal affairs bodies were injured, 37 police cars were damaged.

The Interior Ministry added that a pre-trial investigation has begun in 13 cases of violence against government officials, hooliganism and attacks on government buildings.

Gas protests have been going on in Kazakhstan for several days. In Alma-Ata, protesters began smashing police cars, and security forces began using flash bangs against protesters. Disruptions in the work of the mobile Internet and messengers began. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared a state of emergency in Alma-Ata and the Mangistau region and accepted the resignation of the government.
