Police officers in the Kazakh city of Aktobe refused to detain protesters. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the information portal Orda.kz.

“The police in Aktobe said that they are with the people, they will not raise their hand against the people,” the message says.

According to the portal, there are about a thousand protesters near the Akimat (administration) in Aktobe, who are burning fires to keep warm. ZTB reports that the protesters are breaking into the akimat building.

According to the KP Telegram channel, in Almaty, some police officers joined the protesters. At the same time, RIA Novosti reports, the protesters seized and beat several security officials. Special means are used against the protesters, including stun grenades.

The commandant’s office of Alma-Ata announced that an operation to “ensure law and order and combat extremism” continues in the city, TASS reports. She urged motorists to avoid the city center, Tole Bi street, Raiymbek and Abai avenues.

Gas protests have been going on in Kazakhstan for several days. As reported the day before, in Alma-Ata, protesters began to smash police cars, security forces began to use stun grenades against protesters. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan reported that more than 200 people were detained.
