In ten days there will be an evaluation that will allow to define if the measure continues or telework is lifted in the Legislative Branch.
During the next ten days and subject to evaluation, the National Assembly will work virtually to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and also to take advantage of the suggestions established by the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE), by the increase in infections.
Servants and legislative officials must report positive results of COVID-19 to the department of safety and hygiene, as well as those who have relatives with positive pictures in their residences.
For reported cases, which include a person with positive results for COVID-19, first contacts with infected patients and those with symptoms, epidemiological fences and mandatory preventive isolation will be determined, as well as the corresponding teleworking.
The national COE suggested that the public sector should maintain a capacity of 50%, with the exception of strategic services such as health, education or security, in the face of an increase in infections.
According to the provisions of the Administrative Council of the Legislature (CAL), next week it will be evaluated whether the sessions will be resumed in a blended way or if they remain virtual until January 16. Everything will depend on the increase or not of the positivity of COVID-19.
National Assembly will have telematic sessions during this week to stop COVID-19 infections
The National Assembly in the last two weeks of December 2021 took advantage of a legislative recess and planned to resume its face-to-face activities as of January 3, but some cases of contagion were detected at the level of the assembly members’ work teams, so it was decided to arrange teleworking.
The administrative part of the National Assembly will work electronically during this week, and everything that implies hiring and possessions of officials and the corresponding documentation will be received digitally.
If assembly members require to use their offices, according to the CAL, they can do so in compliance with the provisions of the national COE, such as the 50% capacity and submit a negative PCR test and the vaccination card. That same provision will be maintained when the return to the presidential sessions of the plenary session is ordered.
The mandatory use of a mask for assembly members is also ratified at all times, including during speeches in plenary and press conferences.
Likewise, the Parliament authorities will take the corresponding steps to start the vaccination process for the third dose, observing the schedule established by the Ministry of Public Health.
The legislative bodyguard will be in charge of enforcing the maximum capacity of 50%, in all the facilities of the National Assembly, including elevators and specialized commissions.
To access the building, the presentation of the vaccination certificate will be requested to all people outside the Legislative Branch, as well as to citizens who want to access the legislative houses that operate in different cities. (I)
