Chubais warned about the danger of refusal from energy transition – Rosbalt

The special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for relations with international organizations on sustainable development and the ex-head of Rusnano, Anatoly Chubais, is convinced that a country that rejects the new industrial revolution, that is, the so-called energy transition, in 20 years will look something like what it would look like now without internet.

“For me, the unfolding industrial revolution, which is called the ‘energy transition’, is comparable in recent history, perhaps only with the information revolution that we have experienced. I think that in 20 years a country that will reject this challenge will look something like what a country without the Internet would look like now, ”the presidential envoy said on his Facebook page, commenting on Bill Gates’s book“ How to Avoid Climate Catastrophe ”.

As Chubais noted, it was important for him that “Gates is the person who was the key founding father of the information revolution in the world, and this is exactly how he relates to the energy transition.”

We will remind, earlier in a conversation with TASS, the ex-head of “Rusnano” said that one of the most important achievements of Russia this year was the definition of the goals of the energy transition.

And before that, the chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, Alexei Kudrin, during the “Made in Russia” forum called the global energy transition the biggest challenge for the Russian economy.

As the head of the control department explained, the energy transition, that is, the transformation of global energy from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources (RES), will force Russian energy exports to be replaced by industrial goods and services.

The energy transition is associated with decarbonization – a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions during production. Western countries are set to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2050.
