Members of the government commission of Kazakhstan announced on the Yntymak square in the city of Aktau the decisions taken during negotiations with the initiative group of protesters.
“At the meeting, the decisions made during the negotiations with the initiative group of the city of Aktau were announced, namely on reducing the cost of liquefied gas and setting the price at 50 tenge per liter in the Mangistau region,” Interfax quotes the commission’s statement.
At the same time, guarantees were given that the persons who were on the square were not brought to justice.
In addition, the parties agreed to resolve all emerging issues in the mainstream of a constructive dialogue and within the framework of the current legislation, RIA Novosti emphasizes.
It also became known that tomorrow the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, will hold a meeting with the government on the socio-economic situation in the republic. This was announced on Tuesday by the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan Berik Uali, TASS notes.
Let’s remind, earlier in Kazakhstan the prices for automobile liquefied gas soared – from 60 to 120 tenge per liter (from 10.2 rubles to 20.5 rubles per liter). In this regard, protest actions began. The protesters blocked the roads in Aktau and Zhanaozen. The area of the Akimat of the Mangistau region was cordoned off. Moreover, KazTAG reported on the arrival of two military-type aircraft in Aktau and on the transfer of security forces to Zhanaozen. Protesters even blocked the road from the airport.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev reacted to the massive protests in Aktau against the rise in liquefied gas prices by calling on the disaffected to dialogue. He assured that a government commission had started its work, whose tasks are precisely “to find a mutually acceptable solution to the problem in the interests of ensuring stability in the country.”
