The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is unlikely to end this year. Doubts about this were expressed in an interview with RIA Novosti by Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) Sergei Voznesensky.
In his opinion, “a significant improvement in the situation will be observed in 2023.”
The virologist also assessed the link between COVID-19 and life expectancy. “Unambiguously, in order to interpret the dependence of life on coronavirus infection, you need to have a fairly serious statistical basis for such statements. And today it is somewhat premature, ”Voskresensky told RBC news agency.
We will remind, earlier, the Russian researcher, big data analyst Alexander Dragan, in an interview with Lenta.ru, did not rule out that the coronavirus pandemic will not end this year, and the whole world will have at least two more waves associated with the omicron strain.
We also add that, according to the American Johns Hopkins University, the number of registered cases of COVID-19 infection in the world on the morning of January 3 reached 290 million 157 thousand 607, and 5 million 443 thousand 753 people have died since the beginning of the spread of coronavirus.
