The CAL will evaluate if the sessions of the plenary session and the committees will return in a blended manner on January 9
On the night of this January 3, the Legislative Administration Council (CAL) and the heads of the benches resolved that in the next seven days the sessions of the plenary session of the National Assembly and of the fifteen permanent specialized committees will be virtually.
All these measures were taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and following the recommendations made by the national Emergency Operations Committee (COE) that the public sector should maintain a capacity of 50%, with the exception of strategic services such as health, education or security.
The assembly members of the CAL meeting electronically determined that next January 9, they will evaluate if they will resume the sessions in a blended way or maintain virtuality until next January 16. Everything will depend on the increase or not of the positivity of COVID.
National Assembly adjusts biosecurity protocols for COVID-19
This January 3, when the legislature resumed activities after the fifteen-day break, some cases of contagion of coronavirus were detected at the level of the assembly members’ collaborators, for which the officials were notified to work virtually.
The CAL decision implies that the entire administrative part of the National Assembly will work electronically during this week. In the matter of hiring and possessions of officials and the corresponding documentation will be received digitally.
If the assembly members require to use their offices, according to the resolution of the Administrative Committee, they can do so respecting the provisions of the national COE, such as the 50% capacity and submit a negative PCR test and the vaccination card. That same provision will be maintained when the return to the presidential sessions of the plenary session is ordered. (I)
