MANTA, Manabi

Two accidents that occurred between Sunday night and early Monday, January 3, resulted in the death of two taxi drivers.

The first accident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, in the Los Sauces sector of the urban parish of San Mateo. The victim is Carlos Eduardo Franco Guerrero, the driver of a taxi affiliated with a Manta cooperative.

The first reports indicate that Franco lost control of the transport unit he was driving and that caused the taxi to fall to the side of the road.

The second incident occurred at dawn on Monday, January 3, when a taxi from an executive service company had an accident with a bus belonging to the Coactur passenger cooperative.

The road incident occurred at kilometer 1 of the Manta-Rocafuerte highway, shortly after the bus arrived at the Manta land terminal. Highway control authorities were investigating the causes for the two cars to collide head-on.

As a result of this incident, the executive taxi driver Jefferson Sánchez Tumbaco died.

Last Saturday, January 1, on the same Manta-Rocafuerte route, a person was injured after the car he was driving collided with a bus belonging to the Carlos Alberto Aray passenger transport cooperative. Even the wounded man was trapped for several minutes in the vehicle he was driving, as the irons of his car were twisted towards his humanity. (I)
