In some municipalities, the payment of property taxes began on January 1 through virtual channels, banking agencies or payment points, such as in Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. In Quevedo it was only virtual. There were also windows that attended to users physically, as happened in the capital of Azuaya.
But from this January 3, the first working day of 2022 after the New Year’s holiday, more councils enable their windows or physical spaces, as well as other forms of (virtual) collection so that citizens comply with the payment of their urban properties and rural.
There are discounts and other incentives for the prompt payment of the tribute. The discounts start with 10% for those who cancel this obligation in the first 15 days of January. From there, they go down 1% every fortnight until, generally, the last week of June.
In Guayaquil, for example, the windows located in the lower part of the Municipality, in the center, will attend physically from 07:30 this Monday 3 only to people who have problems to make payments virtually, such as blockades in the web or that do not have internet or relatives who can make the transaction online or in banking agencies.

In The Pearl of the Pacific, the virtual payment and in points or banking agencies began on January 1. In this city, in addition to the traditional discounts of 10% to 1% for early payment, there is an additional reduction of 5% only in the property tax for those who have been vaccinated with a third dose or booster.
The benefit also applies to those who have the second dose and cancel the tax during the first fifteen days of January. For the latter, the 10% reduction will be made first and after the reinforcement has been applied, they will be able to request a refund of the extra 5% of the property tax.
The link for the additional 5% discount was activated from Saturday on the website of the Municipality of Guayaquil (www.guayaquil.gob.ec).
César Velasteguí, spokesman for the Municipality of Guayaquil, said that there was a little more than $ 20,000 on average that was collected by this tax in the first two days of this 2022.
