ECU911 also warned of an increase in cases of domestic violence nationwide
From December 30, 2021, until 12:00 this Sunday, January 2, 2022, 48,689 emergencies were reported in Ecuador, according to a report issued by the Integrated Security Service ECU911.
On this New Year holiday there were fewer crowds compared to Christmas, however, the number of libadores increased.
In the Christmas holiday the ECU911 reported 1,061 crowds, while in New Years there were 914. This represents a decrease of 13.9%.
On the other hand, libators removed At Christmas there were 6,344 and in these last days of holiday it increased by 20.3%, with a total of 7,634.
Among the preliminary figures given to the media, they report 165 people injured and 86 dead.
Agglomerations
Quito was the canton with the highest number of agglomerations, with 270 it represents 30% of the total in the country. Second is Guayaquil, with 96 agglomerations and in third place is Esmeraldas, with 40 events.
But nevertheless, Guayaquil leads the list of libadores, with 1,696 and parties, with 101. Quito has the second place in libadores, with 1,478 and Cuenca has the third place with 399.
In the festivities, the second place is Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, with 59 and in third place is Quito, with 57.
The Capital was also the place where the most public scandals were generated, reporting 1,245 events. In second place, Guayaquil with 1,141 scandals and third Ambato, with 215 registered cases.
Domestic violence
The director of ECU911, Juan Zapata pointed out that the alarming increase in acts of domestic violence that were reported on this New Years holiday. 1,735 occurred at Christmas and 1,856 events occurred at New Years.
“This data has worried us a lot, there is a 7% increase. Guayaquil with 20% and Quito with 19.7% are the cities with the highest number of these cases ”, pointed out Zapata.
In addition, they reported that they registered four suicides. He also stressed that ten suicide attempts were prevented by the timely action of the authorities.
Tourist mobilization
According to data from the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, on this holiday they had 783,253 records of private vehicles that went through tolls at the national level.
Also, preliminary information from the National Transit Agency reported 450,000 people who traveled through the different terminals of the country. Guayaquil had the highest number of users, with 17%, Quito 13% and Cuenca 10%.
With these data, the ECU911 concluded that 1,233,253 people mobilized through land terminals and road axes in Ecuador on this holiday.
