Holiday motivates the mobilization of dozens of tourists to spas in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabí

Some 7,000 visitors, including tourists and families from departments, were expected to arrive at the Atacames spas.

The New Year’s holiday, which ends on Sunday 2, generated a large number of visitors to spas in various provinces such as Esmeraldas and Manabí.

Some 7,000 visitors, including tourists and families from departments, were expected to arrive on the occasion of the New Year’s holiday in the Atacames spas, in the south of the Esmeraldas province.

Among them were Lorena Chicaiza and Sara Bustamante. They arrived from the north of Quito to enjoy the holiday in Atacames.

In that canton, hotel owners estimated that promotions and low prices for accommodation motivated the arrival of more tourists.

“I’m waiting for about 20 reservations at my hotel that they anticipated for a week,” said Alfonso Aparicio, a hotel owner, before the New Year.

In the resort of Súa it was also expected to reactivate tourism with the new boardwalk that replaces the one destroyed two years ago.

Since last December 31, the entry of vehicles with families from other provinces increased. That day, traffic congestion between the Y del León and the E15 south Esmeraldas-Atacames became evident.

On the other hand, in the north of Manabi, the arrival of family groups was evident from Thursday 30 to settle in advance of the reception of the new year.

Luis Mendoza, president of the Bahía de Caráquez and San Vicente Chamber of Tourism, stated that tourists came in large numbers to the spas in these towns. Because of this, the hotels had all their capacity already reserved. “We hope that God blesses us and it will be another holiday for the reactivation of those of us who make a living from tourism,” he said.

A series of resolutions to prevent contagion of COVID-19 ordered the cantons through the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) of each locality. For this reason, the hotels, restaurants and recreational spaces were aligned with the protocols and sanitary measures.

Gustavo Jama, owner of the El Buen Sabor restaurant in Bahía de Caráquez, assured that they had reasonable prices and fresh products for visitors. “We want to show that Bahía de Caráquez has all the conditions to continue offering a good environment for visitors,” he said.

The sea breeze and the sun also accompanied the tourists who moved to other beaches in Manta, in Manabí, and Salinas and Montañita, in Santa Elena. (I)
