Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyjarto is convinced that the talks between the leaders of the United States and Russia held the day before serve the interests of security in Europe.
“We in Central Europe have learned the lessons of history: when there is a conflict between the West and the East, it’s bad for Central Europe, and if the relationship is good, it’s for the best for us. Direct negotiations between the United States and Russia serve our security interests, “the minister said in an interview with RT.
Siyjarto believes that it is very important for the region that the United States and Russia establish a direct and continuous dialogue.
At the same time, the minister pointed out that Hungary is interested in successful negotiations between the Russian Federation and NATO, which will take place in January, because they give hope for mutual understanding between the parties.
Negotiations on security guarantees will begin with consultations in Geneva between the Russian Federation and the United States on January 10, and then continue at a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council on January 12 in Brussels and January 13 in Vienna at the OSCE site, RIA Novosti said.
Siyjarto also assured that the Russian concern “Gazprom” did not violate agreements in Europe. According to him, the company “has always been a reliable partner of Hungary.” “All contracts and terms, volumes of supplies were observed. And, as far as I know, no one in Europe has complained that Gazprom was in breach of its obligations to supply gas, ”the Foreign Minister stressed.
