The court sentenced a Polish soldier who fled to Belarus to six months in prison for bullying his own mother

Polish serviceman Emil Chechko, who had previously fled to Belarus, was sentenced on Wednesday by the Olsztyn District Court to six months in prison. According to the PAP agency, the man, according to a court spokesman, abused alcohol and committed acts that took on the character of physical and psychological abuse of his mother.

The accused was also prohibited from approaching his mother at a distance of less than 50 m for one year.

The agency clarifies that the episode imputed to Emil Chechko took place on May 7. Then, during a family scandal, the man was detained by a summoned police outfit.

Let us remind you that on December 16, Emil Chechko, a serviceman of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division of the Polish Armed Forces, went over to the Belarusian side. He also asked for asylum in Belarus because of his opposition to Poland’s tough policy on migrants.

In Poland, Chechko is also accused of desertion. For this he faces a military tribunal.
