British writer J.K. Rowling, who is the author of books about the wizard Harry Potter, appeared in the special episode “Return to Hogwarts”, but only in archival footage.
The episode is prepared for the anniversary of the release of the first Potter film, reports The Independent. In it, the actors who participated in the filming of the film “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” discuss Rowling’s influence on literature, and then she herself appears on the screen and explains the details of the creation of the first film. The premiere of the preview is scheduled for January 1, 2022.
Previously, Rowling was not included in the list of filming participants – her name was not even in the credits. The media wrote that Rowling’s absence from Return to Hogwarts was due to the fact that the writer was accused of transphobia because of her statements about transgender people – in June 2020, she released a column “on gender and gender issues.” For example, Rowling joked about trying to replace the word “woman” with “menstruating.” Since then, she has been criticized for her intolerance towards transgender and transgender people.
