The Moscow City Court decided to liquidate the Memorial Center recognized by the foreign agent

The Moscow City Court at a meeting on Wednesday, December 29, at the request of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office, decided to liquidate the human rights center “Memorial” (recognized in the Russian Federation as an NGO-foreign agent).

During the debate, the prosecutor stated that the organization carries out its financial activities “in a non-transparent manner: there is no complete information on income and expenses in the reports.”

The claim of the Moscow prosecutor’s office on the liquidation of the Memorial center said that the center admits the justification of the activities of supporters of terrorist and extremist organizations, Interfax reports.

Representatives of the embassies of Spain, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, USA and Germany came to the court in the Memorial case, adds REN TV.

The day before, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation ruled to liquidate International Memorial (the organization was recognized as a foreign agent in Russia). It is known that the decision will be challenged.

As a reminder, Memorial was included in the list of non-profit organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent in 2016.
