Eating food and drink that is too hot can cause esophageal cancer and candidiasis. This was warned by the gastroenterologist and nutritionist Nuria Dianova.
According to her, the temperature in the esophagus is about 37 degrees, and when eating hot food and drinks, people get a permanent thermal burn. “The irritated mucous membrane begins to actively renew itself. And it turns out that we create additional stimulation for cell renewal, ”the doctor said in an interview with Moskva 24.
Dianova noted that a fungal infection can instantly join the damaged mucous membrane. The expert advises people with constant heartburn to forget about hot food. “That is, a person already has a damaged esophagus, because there is always inflammation there, so it also burns it additionally,” Dianova explained.
To determine the optimal temperature for a drink or food, the gastroenterologist recommends using the so-called piala method. “If you can hold the container, you are more or less comfortable, it means that the drink has cooled down to a certain minimum, then you can drink it,” she concluded.
Earlier, Dianova talked about the nutritional features for the elderly.
