Research: The vast majority of Runet users will spend more than 3 thousand rubles on the New Year’s table

Runet users shared how much they are ready to spend on New Year’s Eve, and also told where they look for recipes and how they select dishes for the festive table. According to a study by the social network Odnoklassniki and the ResearchMe center, the results of which are cited by Lenta.ru, 95% of respondents are going to meet 2022 with bread and salt, only 5% said they did not set the New Year’s table.

Moreover, 84% of them prefer a traditional table with a lot of food and drinks, and only 16% want to have a light buffet table. The second option, as a rule, is preferred by people aged 25 to 34 years – almost a quarter (24%) of them noted that they do not like to waste time on cooking various dishes.

The absolute majority of respondents over 35 (84-90%) choose traditional feasts.

It also turned out that 68% of respondents are ready to spend more than three thousand rubles on a festive dinner: a third of Runet users (33%) have already allocated a budget of 3-5 thousand rubles, 22% – less than 3 thousand rubles, 20% – from 5 to 7 thousand rubles, 12% – from 7 to 10 thousand rubles, 3% – more than 10 thousand rubles. Ten percent of the respondents found it difficult to answer this question. It is interesting that the attitude of Russian residents to the budget for New Year’s gifts differs from the budget for the New Year’s table – 46% of respondents are ready to spend more than 3 thousand rubles on gifts.

Users select dishes for the New Year’s table using a variety of methods: they use family recipes (63%), find interesting options on social networks (27), study sites with recipes (21) and cookbooks (15). Also, 5% of survey participants order the services of ready-made selection of recipes and delivery services, and ten percent do not use recipes at all.

It is noteworthy that not all respondents consider alcohol to be appropriate for celebrating the New Year: 16% are going to spend December 31 without alcoholic beverages. Of those who will celebrate 2022 with alcohol, 77% will put sparkling wines and champagne on the table, 41% – spirits, 35% – wines, 8% – liqueurs and 6% – mulled wine.

As for the most popular dishes, the classic top 3 includes Olivier salad, tangerines and herring salad under a fur coat.
