Gazprom continues to “ignore” the Yamal-Europe pipeline for fuel transit – Rosbalt

The Russian concern “Gazprom” once again – for the ninth day in a row – did not begin to book the capacity of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline for gas transit to Germany through Poland, follows from the data of the additional auction session on Wednesday at the GSA Platform site.

For booking, 89.1 million cubic meters were available at the entry point to the Polish section of the highway, but the offer remained unclaimed by the company, PRIME reports.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that the concern does not reserve the capacity of Yamal – Europe, because there are no applications from European consumers. According to the head of state, the reverse allows Europeans to resell gas purchased under long-term contracts, TASS notes.

We add that, according to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, the main reasons for the rise in gas prices in the European Union, which in the past year exceeded $ 2 thousand per thousand cubic meters, are the rejection of long-term contracts in favor of spot contracts, long-term investments in the industry and a fall own production of blue fuel in Europe. Among other reasons for the gas crisis, the deputy chairman of the government, in an interview with RBC, names a drop in its own gas production in Europe, the cold winter of 2020/21, as well as the risks of a repeat of the cold winter and a shortage of gas.
