Homes and vehicles affected by flooding in Amaguaña, south of Quito

Heavy rains on Tuesday caused a river to overflow. There were no casualties.

A river overflowed in the parish of Amaguaña, south of Quito, due to heavy rains on Tuesday afternoon.

Due to the rainfall, the Yanahuaico and La Providencia neighborhoods were flooded, affecting vehicles and homes. There were no victims, reported the Quito Fire Department (CBQ).

The institution shared videos and images where it is observed that water loaded with earth and stones accumulated in the streets, while people covered themselves from the rain.

Eleven firefighters attended the emergency in Amaguaña. A vehicle that was trapped on the road was towed away. At 19:00 it was reported that the water flow was decreasing.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inhami) predicted that during December 28 and 29 the weather in the south of the Inter-Andean alley will present rains. (I)
