An inmate died violently this Monday in the Regional jail, located on the outskirts of Guayaquil.
The Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela, confirmed that violent death in the Regional prison, but said that it was not linked to any revolt due to the visit that they had scheduled in the Penitentiary.
Nor is it related to the protest that occurred hours later in that same jail. The causes were not determined or in which ward the inmate was located.

She confirmed that this morning a protest was reported in the Regional because of the entry of food that was not contemplated in the records, however, after inspections they were allowed to pass.
Vela with other government officials toured the Litoral Penitentiary this morning. The official was in that place on the eve of the end of the state of exception due to the prison crisis. (I)
