Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili lost consciousness after representatives of the penitentiary system on Monday evening acquainted him with the decision of the Justice Ministry to transfer from the hospital in Gori to the Rustavi prison, Interfax reports, citing the mother of ex-President Giuli Alasania.
This information was confirmed by the representative of the Public Defender of Georgia, Anna Dzhaniashvili, who met with Saakashvili in the hospital. According to her, the ex-president told her that the employees of the penitentiary service tried to take him out of the hospital, he “resisted and at some point lost consciousness.”
Janiashvili also added that Saakashvili had “very high blood pressure, in connection with which the hospital doctors decided to suspend the transfer of the ex-president.”
In turn, Saakashvili’s personal doctor Nikoloz Kipshidze said that he was not allowed into the hospital in Gori without explaining the reasons.
Let us remind you that Saakashvili has been in a hospital in Gori since November 20 because of a hunger strike, which he had been holding since October 1, after he was arrested in Tbilisi and imprisoned.
