The family of the deceased physicist Kudryavtsev refused to terminate the treason case

The family of the late physicist Viktor Kudryavtsev, a defendant in the criminal case of treason, refused to close the case in connection with his death and is going to seek his innocence in court, RBC reports with reference to the scientist’s son Yaroslav Kudryavtsev.

According to the man, the investigating authorities turned to the closest relatives of the scientist to find out “whether they want to continue in order to reach a court decision.”

“Here our interests, apparently, coincided for the first time, we decided to continue, the investigation was resumed,” added Yaroslav Kudryavtsev, specifying that now he is the representative of the accused, and according to the law, he must be familiarized with all the materials of the case.

Viktor Kudryavtsev was a leading specialist at the Central Scientific Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (TsNIIMash). In 2018, the FSB accused him of transferring classified information to a Belgian scientific organization – the Von Karman Institute of Hydrodynamics. The scientist spent a year and two months in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center, in September 2019 he was released on recognizance not to leave, and his case was suspended. In April 2021, Kudryavtsev died at the age of 78 as a result of complications after cancer treatment.
