Central Bank denied data on the introduction of total control over the operations of individuals

The Bank of Russia will not introduce new reporting for banks to control the transactions of individuals. This was reported by the press service of the regulator.

The Central Bank explained that at the risk of using banks’ platforms for illegal operations of online casinos and bookmakers, the regulator will collect anonymized data. “We plan to collect anonymized data from those banks that provide p2p payment services only if there is a risk of using their platforms for illegal operations of online casinos and bookmakers,” the Central Bank said.

We are talking about abuses, about huge amounts in a matter of hours, transferred to the same recipients, when it is clear that these are not ordinary settlements used by citizens or small businesses, but an obvious attempt to carry out illegal transactions, the bank noted.

They added that in case of identifying risks based on the data and reports available in the Bank of Russia, individual credit institutions may be requested to provide anonymized registers of those transfers of individuals that meet certain criteria.

The work carried out by the Bank of Russia and credit institutions does not imply total control over the operations of individuals. This work will not affect small businesses, the Central Bank stressed.

Note that earlier today, RBC reported that the Bank of Russia would allegedly control all transfers between individuals.
