The authorities have no plans to remove the body of Vladimir Lenin from the mausoleum on Red Square. This, as reported by TASS, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“No, there are no such plans,” he answered the question whether it is possible in the foreseeable future to make a decision to remove Lenin’s body from the mausoleum.
Peskov added that “now there is a different agenda, which is replete with other issues and problems.”
2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Vladimir Lenin.
Earlier, the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, said that the removal of Lenin’s body from the mausoleum on Red Square and his burial is a matter of time.
“I do not even doubt that sooner or later Lenin will be taken out of the mausoleum, because this is really a relic of the past, that the embalmed body lies in the very center of the capital. I hope that some kind of consensus will be found and the body will be buried, ”he said.
