Apparently there was a short circuit after the Christmas tree was connected.
Blanca Gonzabay’s name went viral on social networks after the woman fell to the ground after a seizure of her merchandise by municipal inspectors, a situation that was rejected by the community, as a person uploaded the video to Facebook.
On Friday morning, the woman made news again, her home in the Jaime Nebot neighborhood, in the La Libertad canton, Santa Elena province, caught fire and she lost all her belongings.
The informal merchant was speechless, between moments she cried, she put her hands to her face as a sign of helplessness. It was understandable, since she had only a few minutes to have left home to work together with her husband and two children, taking advantage of the Christmas festivities.
A worker injured in a factory fire in Quito is in critical condition
Everything he had in his house, washing machine, televisions, clothes, printing machinery, computer and other belongings, was reduced to ashes. Apparently there was a short circuit due to the Christmas tree getting connected.
The inhabitants were alarmed and called the firefighters, who could not enter through the main door so they had to break down a wall to smother and control the flames and prevent the fire from contaminating the other houses.
Relatives and neighbors, in addition to the Municipality, collaborated in the removal of debris. The council announced that coordination was being carried out to help them.
Blanca considered it a miracle that they left quickly, because on other occasions they slept later. Those who wish to help this family can call 09-7925-5093.
Accident in a truck
The cab of a truck that was loaded with cardboard caught fire on Friday morning on the Salinas-Guayaquil highway, near the San Vicente commune.
The driver and the occupants received the alert from the other drivers on the road, who told them that smoke was coming from the back. At that moment they stopped the march and got out of the vehicle.
Iván Tutivén, an occupant of the car, commented that the flames were immense and they took out the extinguisher, but it ran out.
At that moment he crossed a water tanker that helped control the flames until the firefighters from the Santa Elena canton arrived.
Tutivén said that they moved with the recycled material to the province of Guayas.
Four people were injured in a factory fire on the road to Calacalí, in the north of Quito
It is estimated that about four tons of cardboard were lost and that the amount of the loss would amount to two thousand dollars.
“We could only get something, the important thing is that we are alive,” explained Tutivén.
Jorge Granda, from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Unit of the Ecuadorian Transit Commission (CTE), said that apparently the exhaust pipe caused the cardboard to heat up. (I)
