If the US and NATO refuse to provide security guarantees for Russia, Moscow’s response can be very different. This was announced on the air of the TV channel “Russia-1” by the head of the Russian state Vladimir Putin.
“It can be very different. It depends on the proposals that our military experts will make to me, ”he said.
Putin added that Moscow will strive “to achieve a diplomatic negotiating result, which, as I said, legally enshrined in the framework of the documents that we have proposed.”
Earlier, Putin expressed the opinion that the actions of the Russian Federation regarding NATO would depend not on the progress of negotiations on guarantees, but on the basis of the requirements of the unconditional security of the Russian Federation today and in the future. According to him, Russia was “cheated, blatantly deceived” when in the 1990s they promised not to push NATO eastward. One gets the impression that even after the collapse of the USSR, the West “considers the Russian Federation too big,” the head of state added. Now it is the West that “immediately” must provide security guarantees for Russia, and not vice versa, Putin concluded.
