Pussy Riot participants Maria Alekhina and Lyusya Stein went on a hunger strike in Sakharov’s detention center, where they are under administrative arrest for propaganda of Nazi symbols. Lawyer Daniil Berman told Interfax that the girls demand that they be allowed to communicate and be placed in one cell.
Earlier, the court gave Alekhina and Stein 15 and 14 days, respectively, for the propaganda of Nazi paraphernalia.
Alekhina, by a court decision on a “sanitary case”, is prohibited from leaving home from 10 pm to 6 am, leaving Moscow and participating in public events throughout the year. The court also ordered her to report to the inspection twice a month.
Stein was sentenced to a year of restriction of freedom in a case of violation of sanitary standards during an uncoordinated rally in January 2021 in Moscow. By a court decision, the deputy is prohibited from leaving the apartment from 22:00 to 06:00, changing his place of residence without notice, leaving Moscow without the consent of a government agency and participating in public events. In addition, the court ordered Stein to appear twice a month at the criminal executive inspectorate.
