A video footage of the rescue of Russian pilot-navigator Konstantin Murakhtin, shot down in Syria 6 years ago, is posted on the YouTube channel “Alexander Rogatkin’s Author’s Program”. It is clarified that the video was filmed from a drone at the same time, in 2015. The video shows the consequences of the fall of a Su-24M aircraft shot down by a Turkish military aircraft.

Recall that the commander of the crashed plane, Oleg Peshkov, ejected, but was killed by pro-Turkish rebels, posthumously he was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

Those who opened fire from an anti-aircraft gun fired at the forest, into which Murakhtin descended by parachute. The pilot survived. Later, he was evacuated by Syrian special forces, but during the rescue operation, Russian Marine Alexander Pozynich was killed.

In 2015, after this incident, relations between Moscow and Ankara deteriorated sharply. Russia has imposed a number of sanctions against Turkey. As a result, Turkey apologized to the Russian Federation for the incident.

In May of this year, it was reported that the order to shoot down a Russian plane was given by the commander-in-chief of the Turkish Air Force, Abidin Yunal, Colonel Ali Durmush, headquarters of Colonel Ali Durmush, said during interrogation in court. The military man, who pointed out the guilt of the Air Force commander, also said that as soon as the Turkish pilots learned about the two boards of the Russian Military Space Force (VKS) circling the border, Unal immediately received a call. As a result, the commander-in-chief “ordered his subordinates to shoot down planes if they cross Turkish airspace, and hung up.” At the same time, Ankara previously claimed that the decision to shoot down the Su-24 was not made at the General Staff – it was allegedly made by the pilot himself.
