In the Astrakhan region, a high-ranking policeman was caught bribing money and fish

The head of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Russian MIA Administration for the Astrakhan Region is suspected of bribery and fraud. A criminal case was opened under the article on fraud, the press service of the Investigative Committee reports.

According to the investigation, the defendant, knowing that his subordinate’s service contract expires in December, offered to transfer 1 million rubles to him so that the contract could be extended. He received half of the amount in cash, the rest in fish. The police rank ordered the received bribe at his own discretion, without having the intention and actual ability to fulfill the promised subordinate.

The head of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs ordered a service check. The suspect has been suspended from service. If his guilt is confirmed, he will be dismissed on negative grounds, and his head will be brought to strict disciplinary responsibility, the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Also, the investigation of this case was taken under special control by the head of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.
