Biryukov: Utilities are ready to work in difficult weather conditions

In Moscow, utilities continue to operate on high alert. This was announced by the deputy mayor of the capital for housing and public utilities and improvement Pyotr Biryukov.

According to him, the abnormal frosts did not disrupt the operation of the city’s life support systems. In the capital, as the official noted, there were no emergencies or violations of heat and power supply to consumers.

Pyotr Biryukov said that within the framework of the high alert regime in Moscow, a round-the-clock watch of the city headquarters was organized. In addition, emergency teams of engineering companies and district prefectures have been transferred to round-the-clock duty. The cleaning equipment was prepared for deicing and clearing roads and sidewalks from snow. Biryukov added that public utilities constantly monitor the state of the road network.

In turn, the capital’s power engineers were obliged to allocate the required number of backup generators.

According to forecasters, on the night of Saturday, December 25, a heavy snowfall will occur in Moscow, a blizzard is possible, and a squally wind will blow with gusts of up to 17 m / s. The snowfall will not subside in the afternoon of December 25. According to experts, the snowdrifts in the capital will “grow” by 6 cm.

Moreover, severe frosts will hit Moscow early next week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 28 and 29, the city will freeze to minus 20 degrees.
