Despite the restrictions imposed by the national Emergency Operations Committee (COE), the Child Traveler Pass was carried out without major inconveniences in the capital of Azuaya.

The number of faithful Catholics who accompanied the image was minimal in relation to previous editions of the event, but according to the participants, this activity helped refresh their faith in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tour was completed as it was planned, the venerated religious image was paraded through the historic center in a military vehicle decorated with flowers and blue fabrics.

But before the departure of the Traveler Boy there were two acts. The first, a helicopter flight over the image through different neighborhoods of the city, then a mass was celebrated in the Cathedral of the Immaculate.

After the Eucharist, the concentration was held outside the Cathedral of the Immaculate, which was the starting point and arrival of the religious image. And although the idea was to avoid the crowding of people to avoid contagion of COVID-19, the participation of the people was inevitable.

One of the parishioners who attended the event was Elvira Sangurima, who escorted the military car carrying her “Little Boy” in her arms. She came to thank him for the recovery of her brother, who suffered an accident at work. Due to their financial limitations, she said, they did not even have enough to buy the medical prescriptions, but according to this woman, through the Child they were able to get what they needed for the medications.

Regarding the Pass, he said he was satisfied because the important thing was to see the “Little Boy”, but he hopes that by 2022 he will be like before, that is, with people in the streets dancing, singing and praying.

Gabriela Moscoso lived an experience that she described as unforgettable on the morning of this Friday the 24th. She went to Bolívar Street and gave Easter bread as a gift. It is the first time he has come out and he did it to support the priostes of Mercado 12 de Abril. This little detail, he said, was very gratifying because he knows that for many it will be their only meal on Christmas Eve.

The Children’s Pass ended around 11:30. The religious image was received by a group of dancers on the corner of Benigno Malo and Sucre streets. They added an artistic touch to this event.

Minutes later, the image was lowered from the military car and taken to the Monastery of Carmen de la Asunción, where it was veiled.

Juan Aguirre, manager of the Mobility Company, indicated that the event took place in an orderly manner and although the people went out to the streets, it remained within the expected margins. (I)
