Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Truce in Donbass is in the interests of every Ukrainian

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, assures that the Ukrainian side fully complies with the new ceasefire in Donbass.

Moreover, the Armed Forces of Ukraine not only intend to strictly abide by the terms of the ceasefire, “but have already begun to do so,” the military leader said.

As reported, the parties to the conflict in Donbass agreed on a ceasefire thanks to Kiev, which achieved this at a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG). These agreements, according to Zaluzhny, clearly “regulate the formats for responding to any actions” by the enemy. In particular, they clearly spell out “the format of opening fire in response to provocative shelling,” reports Interfax-Ukraine.

The general recalled that on July 22, 2020, Ukraine and the militias agreed to fully comply with the measures to strengthen the ceasefire. If the agreement is fully implemented, “it will definitely meet the interests of every Ukrainian,” and moreover, “it will save the lives of the military and civilians,” the commander-in-chief said.

He also pointed out that Kiev, “in order to return peace to Ukraine, intends to follow a” fundamental diplomatic path. ” “The life of people is the most valuable for us,” Zaluzhny stressed.

On December 23, the head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Andriy Yermak said that the TCG had reached an agreement to return to a full ceasefire in Donbass. According to him, “months of efforts to return to full compliance with the ceasefire have paid off.” Following this, the LPR issued a refutation, nevertheless the lull continues.
