The hotel sector in the province of Esmeraldas estimates that some 10,000 visitors, including tourists and families who have apartments, would arrive between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Jorge BenÃtez, president of the Chamber of Tourism, said that the low absence of tourists this holiday season is also due to the restriction of Colombian citizens due to the closure of borders.
He recalled that two years ago they registered up to 50,000 tourists this season, between foreigners and nationals, in the spas of Tonsupa, Atacames, Same, Esmeraldas, mainly.

The owners of bars, discos and owners of entertainment venues announced a mobilization to the Government of Esmeraldas to allow them to work on these holidays.
