“And who will stay in the shop”: Putin explained why he does not take Mishustin to rest in the taiga

Russian President Vladimir Putin does not take Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with him on his traditional vacation in the taiga only because then no one from the country’s top leadership will be left in the capital. The head of state announced this today during a large press conference.

Let us remind you that for many years Putin, together with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, has been spending a mini-vacation in Siberia, in taiga places (including recreation centers).

“If we take Mishustin with us, it will be like an old Jewish joke: who will stay in the shop?” – the president jokingly answered the corresponding question.

Putin also assured that he has no favorites in the cabinet. “I can’t have any favorites. This can never be. I always point out to my colleagues if I see that they are avoiding some sharp corners, ”the head of state said.

At the same time, speaking about the awards to the employees of the presidential and government administrations, he emphasized that the recipients deserve such encouragements, but one should not single out someone – “we must evaluate the overall work of the team”.

Let us also remind that today the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin is holding a large annual press conference for the 17th time. As previously indicated by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, 507 media employees were accredited for the event, including media foreign agents, who will be able to freely ask questions to the president. We add that Putin first tested the format of communication with journalists 20 years ago – in 2001.
