In the volcano, the monitoring of the National Risk Management Service was activated.
After the alert that was generated on the morning of this Wednesday, through the ECU-911 operational center in Riobamba, attention was coordinated to people who were affected by an accident resulting from a fall in the Chimborazo volcano.
The attention of the aid agencies was directed from 08:04 after it was reported that a person was hiking and was affected by an accident in the snow.
The rescuers who ascended to the place located the lifeless body of a 38-year-old hiker, as well as a 21-year-old man who presented with a dislocated right ankle and multiple contusions, for which he was transferred to a health home in Riobamba with in order for you to receive medical care.
“National Police personnel confirm that the incident in the snowy Chimborazo was a fall. A deceased person is confirmed ”, it was reported through ECU-911.
An ambulance and a rescue unit from the Fire Department, as well as members of the Special Operations Group (GOE) of the National Police, were sent to attend to the emergency.
It was reported that the monitoring of the National Service for Risk and Emergency Management, the ministries of Tourism and the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition was also activated. (I)
