Russia will be fined for cats and dogs thrown into the street

The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill providing for fines for mistreating pets, a Rosbalt correspondent reports.

Changes in the Code of Administrative Offenses, in particular, introduce fines for non-compliance with general requirements for keeping animals. Citizens will be able to get off with a warning for the first time, then a fine of 1.5 thousand to 3 thousand rubles will follow, officials will be fined up to 15 thousand rubles, and legal entities – up to 30 thousand rubles.

For cruelty to animals in the absence of signs of a criminal offense, it is proposed to punish with maximum fines of up to 100 thousand rubles. The maintenance and use of prohibited animals will result in a maximum fine of 150 thousand rubles.

Also, maximum fines of up to 100 thousand rubles are established for non-compliance with the requirements for the use of animals for cultural and entertainment purposes and their maintenance. Carrying out activities for the maintenance and use of animals in zoos, zoos, circuses, zoo theaters, dolphinariums, oceanariums without a license, as well as in violation of the requirements and conditions stipulated by the license, will result in a maximum fine of 200 thousand rubles.

Shelter owners will also be punished with a ruble for mistreating homeless animals – up to 50 thousand rubles.
