The version of Juan Carlos I., the model’s partner, was postponed for this Wednesday
MANTA, Manabi
The prosecution has ordered that for this Wednesday, at 08:00, the exhumation of the body of Naomi Arcentales be carried out, in the cemetery of the Pedernales canton, in Manabí, where she was buried.
This diligence was requested by the family of the deceased young woman, because they have doubts about the report that indicated that she had hanged herself.
The model was found dead on the night of December 12 in an apartment on the 13th floor of a building that also houses a five-star hotel in the Barbasquillo citadel, an area of high added value located in the west of Manta.
Prosecutor’s Office investigates the death of a model in Guayaquil and hopes to take the version of her boyfriend
She was a partner of Juan Carlos I., prosecutor of El Carmen, who was suspended by the National Council of the Judiciary while the case is being investigated.
Precisely, the Prosecutor’s Office had planned to take the version of Juan Carlos I. on Tuesday, within the investigation into the death of Naomi Arcentales, but this was changed for this Wednesday, via zoom.
Julio César Cueva, legal defender of Juan Carlos I., explained that the reason for the change is due to the fact that this call to testify was made through the institutional mail of the aforementioned, access to which he had impediments since last Sunday, when the Council of the Judiciary suspended him from his work.
Days before her death, a young model gave early testimony against three men for alleged sexual abuse
“I did not have access to institutional mail, I have explained (to the prosecutor), that he has notified a place to which I do not have access, so she has understood the situation and obviously to avoid problems has canceled that version for today (Tuesday), in Manta in person and he has arranged for it to be his tomorrow (Wednesday), at 3:00 pm virtually ”, declared Cueva.
He anticipated that the versions that other people had to render this day in Manta were also changed in date and also under the format of via zoom.
He also considered that the little time that has been given had not allowed his client the opportunity to meet and be able to present himself to ask questions, which he considered is a violation of due process, even more so when the Guayaquil prosecutor just approved knowledge in the final hours of the working day of last Friday.
The defense attorney for Juan Carlos I. confirmed that the prosecutor has arranged for the exhumation of Naomi Arcentales’s body to be carried out this Wednesday, in the cemetery of the Pedernales canton.
For this procedure, authorization must be requested from the Pedernales judge, from the Ministry of Public Health, to carry out the procedure to access the cemetery of that canton in the north of Manabí and to coordinate with the legal medicine personnel of Quito, who will carry out the exhumation.
“I would not be able to tell you (if it is feasible for the exhumation to be carried out tomorrow), because it depends on many factors, all the people that I have just mentioned claim timely knowledge and also can do it at that time, if they ask me, logic dictates that probably not, but it’s not my place to say it, ”Cueva said.
