Vedomosti: Some wines may disappear from stores after the New Year – Rosbalt

Some of the wine products may disappear from stores on January 1, Vedomosti warns. The reason is that the sellers do not have time to bring wine to the new requirements of Russian legislation.

Earlier, the Russian authorities decided not to extend the moratorium on the action of 345-FZ, which changes the rules for regulating the alcohol market, including introducing a new labeling of wine. According to the new rules, some of the drinks that were previously labeled as “table wine” or “liqueur wine”, from January 1, should be designated as “wine” and “fortified (liqueur) wine”. Since there was no transitional period for changing the labeling, the wine with the “wrong” labeling should be recognized as fake and destroyed.

According to representatives of the wine industry, the situation is “alarming”, since there is still a lot of wine in circulation, which was imported into the Russian Federation according to the old classification.

Some companies have already begun to get rid of products that do not comply with the new law. Some of the winemakers managed to change the labeling in the summer. Others simply stopped accepting products that did not meet the new requirements.

Recall, according to forecasts of Roskachestvo made in November, wines from Italy and France in 2022 may rise in price by almost a third. This can be facilitated by an increase in gas prices in Europe (the price of a glass bottle), prices for aluminum (the cost of capping), Euro pallets and a general rise in the cost of transportation.
