In the State Duma, the idea arose to fine football players for poor play, violation of discipline and on complaints from fans. According to RIA Novosti, in the near future this proposal will be sent to the heads of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin and the Russian Football Union (RFU) – Alexander Dyukov.
According to the authors of the initiative, the player should be fined within the framework of the contract concluded in the club. The goal of the initiative is to increase the motivation of football players to “play better and with full dedication”.
Recall that the Russian national team led by Valery Karpin finished their performance in the qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Cup in second place. This did not allow the Russians to qualify for the tournament directly. Now the national team will have to play a play-off match against Poland. The game will take place on March 24, 2022 at Luzhniki. The winner of this pair will also play in Luzhniki against the strongest in the confrontation between the national teams of Sweden and the Czech Republic. A positive result will be a ticket to the final stage of the 2022 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar.
The most famous “off-football” incident with Russian players is two fights in the center of Moscow, which were staged by Pavel Mamaev and Alexander Kokorin in 2018. Then the driver, an employee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the head of the scientific center “NAMI” were injured. In May 2019, Mamaev and Kokorin were sent to a colony, but soon released.
