In Nabón there will be a standstill this Monday to demand lack of attention from the Government

From noon on Monday, the authorities and inhabitants of the Azuayo Nabón canton will initiate a paralysis to demand the lack of attention of the national government to the emergency that is being experienced in the Las Rosas neighborhood due to a landslide.

They will take the Panamericana Sur, preventing any type of mobilization until the state of exception is declared and the 135 families affected are treated. The decision was made at the citizen assembly held on Saturday afternoon and evening in which dozens of community leaders from different sectors of the town located in the south of the province participated.

Presiding over the meeting was Mayor Patricio Maldonado, who asked the participants that it is time to demonstrate the unity to convene in the Panamericana Sur and “that the vehicles do not pass.”

Maldonado said that it is not his decision, but that of the people, and that this is the best time to represent them, because in recent weeks “many states of emergency” have been generated in different provinces of Ecuador, but not in Nabón and he does not know the why.

With this pressure, the idea is to arrive in commission to be attended by the President of the Republic in order to immediately decree the state of exception and allocate the necessary resources. This is because since the emergency began six months ago, they have not been given any partial or total solution by the central government, despite the orders filed on more than one occasion.

From the Municipality it was reported that several national authorities are expected to arrive in Nabón to hear their proposals. However, that will not reverse the common agreement of citizens to take the road in the La Ramada sector. By the road on which Nabón is located, Azuay connects with the neighboring provinces of Loja and Zamora. (I)
