Covid patients who were connected to the ECMO apparatus are recovering the worst of all, said Sergei Tsarenko, deputy chief physician for anesthesiology and resuscitation of the city clinical hospital No. 52 in Moscow.
In the film “Dangerous Virus. Second Year ”on the Russia-1 TV channel, he explained that resuscitation and bedtime were“ not a sentence, ”but an extreme degree of severity of the condition. Such patients recover the worst of all, and two out of ten survive.
Tsarenko clarified that the average age of a patient on ECMO is 42.5 years. The age of the youngest patient in the intensive care unit of Hospital No. 52 is 28 years old. He is hospitalized with severe lung damage.
