Those Russians who do not urgently need a car can pre-order online and wait for it, thus saving on buying a car. Denis Migal, General Director of Fresh Auto dealership network, told PRIME agency about this.
However, if the purchase is not postponed, and the seller offers a car only with additional equipment, then the issue of imposing special stages can be resolved through the automaker or the director of the dealership, indicating that, in accordance with Article 16.2 of the Law of the Russian Federation “On Protection of Consumer Rights”, “condition the purchase of certain goods ( works, services) by compulsory purchase of others ”is strictly prohibited.
As the expert noted, the current shortage of cars is becoming a reason for some sellers to increase margins by selling additional equipment simultaneously with the car, which sharply increases its cost. This is another factor that negatively affects the growth of the cost of new cars, Migal believes.
On average, according to his estimates, now additional options add 200-400 thousand rubles to the cost of the car, although back in 2019 the cost of special stages remained in the range of 50-70 thousand rubles.
“As a result, the motorist is faced with a choice: to overpay for additional options and equipment installed by the dealer, or to stand in line from several months to a year with the possibility of a rise in the price of the selected model,” the specialist explained.
Let us also recall that earlier the Kommersant newspaper stated that for the first time since 2014, car dealers in Russia will not offer traditional New Year discounts in December. According to the newspaper, preferences can be obtained only for certain unclaimed modifications.
So, if in 2014 there was no talk of discounts due to the rush of demand as a result of the devaluation of the ruble, now dealers have little to offer customers due to a shortage of cars.
“Now dealers do not have traditional New Year’s sales, because there are not enough cars,” explained Andrey Kamensky, Avilon Marketing Director.
