Russians who want to please loved ones with New Year’s gifts and spend not too much should plan their budget in advance, look for lucrative cashback deals and avoid buying cosmetic sets, for which sellers make large markups before the holidays. Pavel Guzhikov, founder and CEO of the fintech company Dengi Vperyod, told RIA Novosti about this.
First of all, he advises planning your budget. “Calculate in advance the number of people to whom you would like to make a gift, and the budget that you are ready to spend on it,” the specialist pointed out.
At the same time, he believes, it is not worth choosing holiday sets of perfumes or cosmetics as a gift for the New Year. “Just for such sets, retail chains make significant markups, and their content may not always be 100% suitable for the addressee,” explained Guzhikov.
And in general, he recommends, monitoring the prices of the desired gifts should be done in advance. “This way you can be sure that the store hasn’t raised prices by 50% in order to make a 20% discount,” the expert said.
We also add that earlier the executive director of the Guild of Marketers Oleg Gvozdik, in an interview with Sputnik radio, reminded Russians that it is better to buy gifts for the New Year and Christmas before rush hour in stores.
At the same time, he advises, gifts for the New Year can be bought both in the online store and in the shopping center. However, the expert is convinced, it is important to do this up to a certain point: for example, if a person is going shopping in a shopping center, then he should hurry up and stock up on gifts until December 24, before the onset of “rush hour”.
“If we are talking about buying gifts in a store, then it is best to do it before Friday, December 24th. On this day, people will flock to shops, and there will be 1.5-2 times more buyers than usual, ”Gvozdik said.
