China has outlined its position on the Ukrainian conflict

China stands for a political solution to the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on February 17, the press service of the Chinese Foreign Ministry reports.

China convinces the parties of the need for peace and facilitates negotiations, the press release noted. It also emphasizes that Beijing does not take advantage of the opportunity to benefit and does not sell lethal weapons to the conflict zone.

The minister also expressed hope that Chinese-Ukrainian relations will develop normally.

At the same time, Kuleba said that Ukraine highly appreciates the document published by China outlining its position on a political settlement of the military conflict, the press service of the Chinese ministry clarifies.

Let us recall that a year ago, in February 2023, the Chinese Foreign Ministry published a statement with Beijing’s position regarding the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. The document consists of 12 points, among which is the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and the resumption of direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that he considers China’s proposals for a settlement “not an action plan, but Beijing’s thoughts on this topic.” In turn, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also said that he does not consider China’s proposals for Ukraine to be a peace plan. In his opinion, this is more of a position document.
