Reuters: Putin, with the help of mediators, proposed that the United States freeze the Ukrainian conflict, but the American side rejected such a scenario

Russian President Vladimir Putin, through intermediaries, tried to offer the United States the option of freezing hostilities in Ukraine, but was refused. This was reported by Reuters, citing three sources from senior Russian leadership.

According to agency sources, Putin wanted to achieve a ceasefire and fix Russia’s territorial positions, including in the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye. However, the White House did not support the proposal of the Russian President.

Reuters interlocutors also claim that United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken, CIA Director William Burns and Joe Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan knew about Putin’s signals. According to sources, contacts allegedly took place with the assistant to the Russian president, Yuri Ushakov.

The American side allegedly responded to Putin that it did not intend to discuss the fate of Ukraine without the participation of Vladimir Zelensky in the negotiation processes. At this point the dialogue was suspended.

At the same time, a Reuters source in the US government absolutely denies any secret contacts between the White House and Kremlin representatives.

Earlier, journalist Tucker Carlson said that Putin was allegedly ready to make compromises in the Ukrainian conflict in order to stop the fighting. According to the reporter, the Russian President may well use diplomacy to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine.
