Giant nativity scene is exhibited in Ibarra and attracts dozens of families

One of the attractions of Ibarra this Christmas is the giant nativity scene installed in one of the wings of Pedro Moncayo Park, in front of the municipality, an emblematic site located in the center of this city, which these days is dressed in lights and colors.

The monumental decoration is planted over an area of ​​200 square meters, this year it has more than five thousand LED bulbs and about 20 kilometers of LED luminous hose.

This space is set with various elements typical of the Christmas celebration, twelve figures that exceed two meters in height each, built in resistant material that withstands all types of weather.

The scenography is complemented by the unique architecture of the frontispiece of the cathedral church, illuminated in its domes and strategic sites, as well as the different spaces of this public place.

This Nativity scene has the essential pieces that should never be missing in a manger: Mary, Joseph, the Magi, shepherds, manger and the Child God or Jesus, dromedaries, donkeys, although there are other symbols that can also complement it.

The glows of the magical characters inspired by the brightness of the stars and the Christmas fruits are the hosts of the Christmas lights of the White City, in a clear invitation to celebrate life at Christmas and enjoy the Christmas traditions as a family.

The route of light has its node around the main park of this city with more than 350,000 inhabitants, with corridors recreated with flashing flashes, magical characters inspired by the brightness of the stars, a giant sphere, luminous globes and a cone-shaped tree. green color.

Andrea Andrade, who resides in Carchi, explains that he decided to go out to visit this site, which he compares as a manual and beautiful work, made by various artists and artisans who have given life not only to the pieces, but to the gigantic model.

Darío Robi, Director of Education, Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Ibarra, who is responsible for coordination, explains that between 300 and 400 people visit this site, on weekends the number triples.

In addition, Bolívar, Olmedo and Flores streets were illuminated. This Monday the Novena of the Child began, outside the church, in front of the manger. There will also be the Christmas Cantata, at the Gran Colombia Theater, and a nativity scene contest.

The lighting of the tree was not carried out this year to avoid crowds and preserve the health of the people of Ibarra in the face of COVID 19, says Mayor Andrea Scacco, an event that took place with fireworks, artists, among others.

An entrepreneur fair located 200 meters away offers clothing alluding to the date, beautiful crafts, Christmas items, gastronomic delights, colored lights and handmade toys, complementing this beautiful Christmas environment.
